2.2.10
Start working this afternoon on the new novel. You, reading this blog, are privileged. You are in at the beginning of a major work of western literature and will watch and partake in its creation, blow by painful blow. Very promising. Possibly a masterpiece to rival Solzhenitsyn or Tolstoy or at least Nick Hornby. Decide to short circuit some of the process and begin developing a (short) acceptance speech for the Booker Prize. Better check emails just in case a publisher has randomly made me a huge advance offer for a book they know nothing about and which hasn’t been written yet. No emails except from Google asking how well ‘Adwords’ is working for me (not well, I reply – must check it out at some point) but the ITV Formula One website catches my eye and I lose interest in email. Then, to cheer myself up I ‘research’ famous writers with writer’s block (or laziness as it’s known in the real world). Interesting you don’t find, say, lawyers with legal block or firemen who just can’t work out how to get started on tackling a blaze. Maybe I could work that into the complex plotline. I ponder this for a while but start to fall asleep. It is now coffee time and too late to work on the great tome for today. Tomorrow promises inspiration and a fresh approach. Or maybe next week.
